DAVAO CITY — Many Davaoeños support the recent declaration of President Rodrigo Duterte not to allow unvaccinated residents to get out of their houses to prevent the spread of Covid-19 Omicron variant but there are those who said the state must respect the decision of those who are not willing to get a vaccine jab.
This, as the Philippine National Police XI, on Saturday started to implement the no vaccine, no entry to Davao Region. This means, only vaccinated individuals are allowed to enter region XI, as the police and army personnel in the border control checkpoints ask motorist and passengers to present their vaccine card.
Joyce Reyes, a young professional said “It is good so that those not vaccinated will not be infected” but she clarified those who refuses vaccine jab must be respected because that is their choice.
For Julito Detor, a senior citizen, getting vaccinated is the last choice of the hard-headed individuals who previously refused vaccine jab “Kadtong mga gahi og ulo matagam na (those hard headed learn their lessons)..
To end the pandemic, Ceferino Dinampan asked those unvaccinated to have their shots so that the virus will be contained “Pa-vaccine na para mawala na ang Covid (Get vaccinated so that Covid will be gone).
But for Jane Palmino, enforcing teh no vaccine, no entry is a harsh policy and it violates her right “IF I decided not to get vaccinated, Does it make me a criminal?
Nagarita Gumong, a netizen said “All news now is about Covid-19, vaccine, do not force the person who does nto want to get vaccinated, where is freedom?”
Health record shows, even those vaccinated have been infected. The Health department has continuously asks the vaccinated population to continue to follow the health protocol to avoid infection.
On Monday, January 10, the Department of Health (DOH) recorded the Philippines’ highest number of new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases logged in a day since the pandemic began in March 2020, with 33,169 fresh infections.
Monday’s tally is also the third consecutive day for the country to see record-breaking numbers, with 28,707 new cases logged on Sunday, January 9, and 26,548 on Saturday, January 8.
