DavNor’s KAAGAPAY, TUPAD program launched in Samal Island

IGACOS — With the ongoing fight against COVID-19 pandemic, the provincial government of Davao del Norte strengthens its continuing effort of ensuring the food security of its constituents through the “TUPAD at KAAGAPAY Para sa Pag-ayo sa Kinaiyahan Project”.

Launched on the 17th of February 2021 in Samal Island, the program is said to benefit over 200 beneficiaries in the Island by providing livelihood for them through planting forest trees and various mangrove species, earning P396 pesos per day within 10 days. Beneficiaries under the DOLE’s TUPAD Program identified by the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) include those who are disadvantaged and displaced workers whose sources of income were affected by the pandemic.

Aside from ensuring the income and food of every household, Davao del Norte Provincial Governor Edwin Jubahib also aims to promote reforestation in this project by providing 1,000 forest trees such as Narra and Molave which will be planted in a Botanical Garden at Brgy. Bandera, Kaputian District, and, another 1,000 mangrove species from the City Government of Samal to be placed in Sitio Tinago, Brgy, Peñaplata, Samal District.
