DOH says alleged international health concern still unverified, urges public to stay calm

DAVAO CITY — The Department of Health (DOH) has clarified that there is currently no confirmation regarding an alleged international health concern circulating on social media. The information has not been validated by the World Health Organization (WHO) or any other credible health authority.

In a written statement, the DOH emphasized that the Philippines remains active in the WHO network and adheres to the International Health Regulations (IHR), which serve as a trusted framework for monitoring and addressing global health concerns.

The country’s robust disease surveillance system actively monitors the situation to verify the facts and ensure Filipinos are promptly informed of legitimate developments.

The DOH also urged the public to exercise caution and avoid spreading unverified information, which could lead to unnecessary panic. “It is important to rely only on credible sources for news and updates,” the statement added.

Everyone should maintain healthy habits and follow preventive measures to stay safe and resilient:

  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water to prevent the spread of germs.
  • Maintain personal hygiene and ensure a clean environment.
  • Eat nutritious foods, including vegetables, to strengthen immunity.
  • Get sufficient rest by sleeping early to promote overall health.
  • Manage stress levels to keep your immune system strong.

The DOH reassures the public that it is committed to providing accurate and timely updates. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed through official DOH channels and refrain from sharing unverified reports that could cause alarm.
