DAVAO CITY  (November 10) — As Super Typhoon Uwan continues to batter parts of Luzon and bring rains to Mindanao, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma urged employers to show appreciation for employees who still report for work despite the bad weather.

“It would be a good move to give incentives or extra benefits to those who brave the storm just to work,” Laguesma said on Sunday.

He also appealed to companies to be understanding toward those who can’t make it due to the weather disturbance.

“Safety should always come first,” he stressed. “Employers should ensure the well-being of their workers above all else.”Although Uwan made landfall in northern Luzon early Monday, PAGASA said its wide rainbands continue to bring scattered rains and gusty winds to parts of Mindanao, including the Davao and Caraga regions.
