TACURONG CITY (August 30) — Eleazar Gallardo sits quietly in a chair, staring blankly on the area where his younger sister was gunned down by unidentified gunmen several days ago. Their family is asking for justice .

On August 22, Annaliza Dinopol Gallardo Capinpin, a 34-year old mother of four was shot dead at around 6:45 a.m. by unknown assailants in front of the Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU).  It remains a case to solve for investigators of Tacurong City PNP.

City Police Chief Superintendent Jemuel Siason said they are now pursuing a lead, but he did not elaborate citing “confidentiality.”

Capinpin was waiting for a ride on her way to Salabaca National High School in nearby Esperanza town when reportedly shot dead by gunmen riding in motorcycle.  She sustained gunshot wound on her head, neck and other parts of her body.

“Naghihintay pa rin kami ng hustisya para sa kanya (we are still waiting justice for her),” Gallardo said, as he appealed to those with information on the murder of his sister.   “Kung may alam at nalalaman po kayo tungkol sa pagpatay sa sister ko, please tulungan po ninyo kami na makamit ang hustisya para sa kanya,” he added.

Capinpin, known as “Ate Liza,” was the president of the Agrarian Reform Council for Mindanao Pioneers, Inc., an umbrella group of the 307 agrarian reform beneficiaries of the 909 hectares of lands located in Barangay EJC Montilla in Tacurong City.

From the street marches to legal battles in government courts, Capinpin led the 307 agrarian reform beneficiaries, unminding the risks of leading them. They won and they got the lands they were fighting for.

“Kung walang tutulong sa kanila, paano sila? Kung hindi ako, sino ang tutulong sa kanila?” said Reygan Capinpin, quoting his wife Annaliza in their previous conversations before she was murdered.

Reygan described his wife as “brave heart” for her courage to stand and fight for what is right for the landless farmers.  Ramil Bajo/ NewsLine
