Former super featherweight champ electrocuted

DAVAO CITY — A 13,000 kilowatt power voltage killed former super featherweight champion Gerry Quiñones on Saturday, November 28, 2021in Purok 5, Barangay Poblacion, Magsaysay town, Davao de Sur.

Quiñones, 47, was installing the roof of a commercial building owned by Loloy Dolisin, a village official when he accidentally hit the high tension wire of Davao del Sur Electric Cooperative (DASURECO).

Rescuers from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Office (MDRRMO) and the Bureau of Fire Protection brought Quiñones to the nearby hospital, but he was declared dead upon arrival.

Quiñones rose to fame with 19 victories, four losses, and one draw.
