Go asks PNP and CIDG solve journalist killing

DAVAO CITY (June 17) — Special Assistant to the  President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go is asking the provincial commands of the Philippine National Police (PNP)
and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to hasten the investigation over the death of  veteran journalist Dennis Denora  and  arrest the perpetrators.

“I am asking the PNP director and the CIDG Directors to give priority to case  of Denora , justice must be served,” Go stressed.

Responding to the call of Mindanao Independent Press Council (MIPC), an  umbrella organization of media associations and practitioners on the island, Go said he will closely monitor the development of the Denora case, he also vowed to personally make follow up on other unsolved cases of journalist killings in the country.

Go said “Free Speech and Freedom of expression should be respected, no journalist deserve to die in the spirit of free press, press freedom should be uphold, specially if they are carrying the torch of truth.”

Denora was killed by riding in tandem but the authorities suspect, the crime was committed by more than two  persons.

Jane Denora, the widow of slain journalist said they cannot speculate who killed her husband “We trust the authorities to solve the case, we  cannot deal on speculations, we need to be factual, we are hoping that the perpetrators will be arrested soon.”

Mrs. Denora thanked  Go  for asking the PNP and the CIDG to hasten the investigation “Wala man mi nagkita, but It is a big support to us when SAP Bong Go, asked the authorities to fast-track the investigation.”

Denora was laid to rest Saturday, June 16,  at Panabo Memorial Park. He was killed in broad daylight along the highway of Panabo City.
