KIDAPAWAN – The local government provided tilapia and hito fingerlings to 470 residents in Kidapawan City who own fish ponds not exceeding 100 square meters.

According to the City Agriculturist’s Office, among the recipients were 30 residents from Barangays Sikitlan, Meohao, Balabag, Ilomavis, Paco, Binoligan, and San Isidro, who are members of the Fisherfolks Association. They received the allocated fingerlings.

The distribution took place on Tuesday, November 14, and yesterday, November 15.

The program aims to provide livelihood opportunities to the beneficiaries and is part of the city’s Food Sufficiency Program spearheaded by Mayor Atty. Jose Paolo Evangelista.

Every Saturday, locally produced tilapia from the beneficiaries of the program is made available at the Kidapawan City Market.

The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation is a partner of the LGU in implementing the program.

In the coming days, an additional 105 residents who own fish ponds in the city will also receive tilapia and hito fingerlings.
