Government’s Service Caravan visits Bislig

October 28, 2019 by Luel B. Galarpe

BUTUAN CITY – At least 1,700 residents of a barangay in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur recently took advantage of the free services provided by the government’s “Service Caravan” spearheaded by the Office of the Special Assistant to the President (OSAP).

Philippine Army 75th Infantry Battalion (75IB) commander Lt. Col. Warren Munda said in a statement released Sunday the delivery of basic services to residents of Sitio Mabog, Barangay San Roque in Bislig was participated by various national government agencies including the Armed Forces in coordination with non-government organizations, private stakeholders, and the local government of Bislig.

According to Munda, the residents received free medical services, including anti-rabies shots, pet vaccination, and circumcision for children, as well as free haircut during the Service Caravan held over the weekend, October 26, at the barangay’s oovered gym.

The caravan also provided legal assistance, food items, used clothing to the residents while farmers received seedlings of high-valued crops. Toys were also given to the children.

Together with Munda, the Service Caravan was spearheaded by Reygela Decalit of OSAP and Bislig Mayor Florencio Garay.

Munda said the Service Caravan is also part of the military’s campaign against communist insurgency and he is grateful for the support of the private sector in making the activity a success.

“The government is truly committed to a change towards peace and development in the country and we want everybody to be part of this campaign in ending communist insurgency,” said Munda.

He also expressed his gratitude to the residents of Barangay San Roque for their warm welcome during the caravan. (With reports from PNA)
