DASMARIÑAS CITY, Cavite (July 15) — A 15-year-old Grade 8 student was injured after he was allegedly stabbed by a fellow student during recess inside a public school in Dasmariñas City on Monday, July 13, in another case highlighting concerns over youth violence in schools.
Authorities withheld the name of the school to protect the identities and safety of its students and personnel.
Police identified the victim only by the alias “Glen,” 15, and the suspect by the alias “Ranz,” 14. Both are Grade 8 students who recently transferred from another school.
Initial police investigation showed that at around 2:15 p.m., during the afternoon recess, the victim approached the suspect to confront him over an undisclosed issue. The encounter escalated when the suspect allegedly drew a bladed weapon and stabbed the victim in the back.
Classmates quickly intervened to stop the altercation and immediately sought help from teachers.
The victim was rushed to the Pagamutan ng Dasmariñas, where he received medical treatment. He is reported to be in stable condition.
Because the suspect is a minor, authorities classified him as a Child at Risk (CAR) and referred him to the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) for appropriate intervention while the police investigation continues.
Investigators are interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence to determine the motive behind the stabbing and the circumstances that led to the incident.
School officials have also launched an internal investigation and are coordinating with law enforcement and social welfare authorities to ensure a fair and orderly resolution of the case.
The incident has renewed calls for parents, teachers, and school administrators to promptly address conflicts among students before they escalate into violence, while strengthening school-based guidance, counseling, and child protection measures.
