Isabela City, Basilan – In a recent series of turnover ceremonies, Isabela City’s local government, led by Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman, officially handed over significant infrastructure projects to the respective communities. These initiatives, including repaired stilt houses, a barangay health station, and solar streetlights, aim to enhance living conditions and promote development and safety in the city.
The newly repaired stilt houses in Barangay Marang-Marang were formally turned over on Wednesday, July 12. With a total cost of Php 2,998,566, the project was funded through the 20% development fund. Mayor Hataman, alongside Barangay Marang-Marang Chair Nusul Usman and City Engineer Reynaldo Dagohoy, presided over the ceremony, highlighting the importance of providing improved housing for the community.
In addition, the local government also inaugurated the Barangay Health Station in Sitio Latuan, Barangay Baluno. Valued at Php 1,953,244.85, this facility will play a crucial role in ensuring accessible healthcare services for residents. The project was funded through the 20% development fund, emphasizing the commitment of the local government to prioritize the welfare and health of its constituents.
Furthermore, the installation of solar streetlights in Barangay Begang and Barangay La Piedad was celebrated as an essential step towards enhancing safety and visibility within the community. A total of 84 units of solar streetlights were installed, with a combined cost of Php 4,625,876.78, sourced from the 20% development fund. These streetlights will contribute to creating a safer and well-illuminated environment, particularly during the night.
