VANCOUVER (July 5) – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the decision on whether former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan should become a state witness is solely up to the Office of the Ombudsman.
Speaking in Vancouver after his state visit to Canada, Marcos said he has “complete faith” in Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla and respects his judgment in handling the investigation into alleged anomalies in flood control projects.
Remulla earlier said he plans to make Bonoan a state witness, citing the former official’s “very important” testimony. Bonoan is facing a non-bailable ₱573-million plunder charge over the alleged misuse of flood control funds.
