DAVAO CITY —- A healthy baby girl was delivered in the arms of a police nurse along the national highway here.
It was an ordinary morning for Talomo police personnel having their morning run when they noticed a pregnant woman touching her tummy at about 6 o’clock in the morning Tuesday, September 1, while forcing herself to walk away from them.
The police personnel did not waste any second and immediately run to rescue the woman who was about to give birth along the national highway, particularly MacArthur highway fronting their office.
Noticing the rescue was on, the mother lied down to the piled up legs of the policemen and gave birth to a bouncing baby girl.
The rescuing police officers snipped the baby’s umbilical cord as the little tot started crying loudly. Moments later, the newborn was handed into her mother’s loving arms.
Talomo police chief Major Ronald Lao in an interview said the couple was waiting for a ride to bring the mother to the hospital.
After the safe delivery, the couple and their child were ushered to a nearby hospital onboard the police car.
Lao commended the immediate response of his personnel to a distress call. “This is one of the many instances of our police performing their duties to the best of their abilities and it makes us incredibly proud,” Lao added.
