DAVAO CITY — Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib has recently distributed sacks of rice and food packs to over 1,200 different Christian denominations in the province.

Each of the 1,207 protestant churches received one sack of rice and some canned goods, said the Davao del Norte Public Information Office over the weekend.

In an interview with NewsLine, Governor Jubahib said everybody needs assistance in this time of pandemic and it is his sworn duty to provide aid to his constituents.

“We are here to help everybody regardless of our religious beliefs. It doesn’t matter whether one is Catholic, Muslim, or Protestant. We are all brothers and sisters,” the governor said.

Earlier this month, the governor also distributed sacks of rice and food packs to all the parishes of the Catholic church and Muslim mosques all over the province.

Pastor Nestor Caong of the Jesus Is Lord Community said he greatly appreciated the initiative of Governor Jubahib as all the Christian churches and Muslim mosques have been affected by the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic as well.

“All the churches have also been locked down. This aid is a great help to all religious leaders in Davao del Norte in this time of crisis. On behalf of all the pastors and ministers of the independent churches and fellowships, I thank Governor Edwin Ignacio Jubahib and the local government of Davao del Norte,” Caong said.

The thoughtfulness and generous deed of Jubahib were also greatly appreciated by the nearly 400 independent churches in Tagum City.

“We, from the group of Fellowship pastors in Tagum City, are very much thankful, first and foremost to God, and to Governor Edwin Jubahib who has a big heart to help those in need,” said Pastor Bernardo
Marzon on behalf of the City of Tagum Ministerial Fellowships.

The rice assistance for other Christian denominations has all been delivered to their respective churches in the cities and municipalities in the province. (LBG)
