DAVAO CITY — Some 111 families displaced during the February 7 Masara landslide were given all-weatherproof tents as a temporary shelter in a relocation center called “G-Works Kampo Dos” located in Brgy. Malamodao, Maco, Davao de Oro.

The all-weather-proof tents were initially set up in the area, benefiting the internally displaced families coming from Brgys. Mascara and Mainit were affected by the Masara landslide in early February of this year.

On March 8, the provincial government turned over the first relocation site called “G-Works Kampo Uno” which is located near the Immaculate Conception Quasi Parish area in Barangay Elizalde in Maco town where 99 tents were provided.

Aside from the provision of tents, they were also provided with kitchen, bathroom, and toilet areas, as well as non-food items among others, ensuring their health and safety while temporarily housed in the area.

Gonzaga said the provincial government is exploring all remedies for the affected families to respond to the needs of the affected families, saying “Your government is working to extend all the support necessary to and ensure the needs are provided and will continuously respond to the needs of every family.

The landslide resulted in 98 fatalities with still eight persons missing. The retrieval operation was terminated on February 23.
