OZAMIZ CITY — The city government here launched livelihood programs from the Department of Social Welfare and Development to benefit the Indigenous Peoples and the 4Ps beneficiaries in an effort to help them augment the economic impact brought about by the health pandem
The P1.5-million worth of projects having four beneficiaries in Barangay Trigos, was inaugurated on September 26, 2020.
Richard Tener, Sustainable Livelihood Program coordinator of the provincial DSWD office said his agency supported the endeavor of the local government having identified deserving sectors as the beneficiaries of the program.
Tener said the support given by Mayor Oaminal has encouraged the IPs and 4Ps beneficiaries of Trigos to help themselves become self-reliant in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
The project is under the flagship program of the city dubbed as “Asenso Ozamiz” which spells the economic and development agenda of the city.
The P1.5-million fund was spent for the purchase of items for the following beneficiaries, namely: Trigos Cluster 1 IPs livelihood program which retails rice and dried fish; the Cluster 2 as community store; the Trigos Livestock, Agrivet Feeds and Supplies and the Trigos IP Farming and Agri-Farming fertilizers and farm supplies.
The four projects have 104 family-beneficiaries, all coming from the geographically isolated and disadvantage areas (GIDA).-Neptalie Batolenio/Newsline.ph
