MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the Philippines is coordinating with Kuwaiti authorities in investigating the death of a Filipino household worker in the Gulf state.

“The Embassy is in close coordination with local authorities to gather evidence and investigate the untimely demise of the Filipina,” it said Friday.

Reports said Constancia Lago Dayag, 47, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Agadanan, Isabela, was pronounced dead on arrival after being rushed to the Al-Sabah Hospital in Kuwait on May 14. Her body bore various contusions and hematoma, as well as signs of sexual assault.

Charge d’affaires of the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, Mohd. Noordin Pendosina Lomondot, said they have requested Kuwait’s General

Forensics and Evidence Department to expedite the release of the forensic report, which is usually processed within four to six weeks.

The DFA did not identify the reason behind her death but said she was deployed as a household service worker to Kuwait in January 2016 and returned in 2018 as a Balik-Manggagawa on a second contract with the same Kuwaiti employer.

The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait received the case on May 16 and immediately assigned a lawyer to handle it. (PNA)
