November 30, 2023 by NewsLine Philippines

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Rear Admiral Caesar Bernard Valencia, the Vice Commander of the Philippine Navy, reaffirmed the navy’s commitment to supporting the Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom) during his visit to Camp Navarro in Calarian, Zamboanga City on November 28, 2023.

In a courtesy call to WestMinCom Commander Lt. Gen. William Gonzales at the Laong Laan Hall of the command, Rear Admiral Valencia engaged in discussions centered on naval capability enhancements and the protection of maritime domains. The meeting underscored the importance of intensifying security operations in the southern frontiers.

Rear Admiral Valencia emphasized the Philippine Navy’s unwavering support for WestMinCom’s endeavors in combating terrorism and addressing lawlessness, particularly in curbing illegal activities at sea.

“WestMinCom can count on the full support of the Philippine Navy in all campaigns against terrorism and lawlessness. We are committed to enhancing naval capabilities and ensuring the security of our maritime areas,” Rear Admiral Valencia stated.

In response, Lt. Gen. Gonzales expressed gratitude for Rear Admiral Valencia’s visit and the continued support from the Philippine Navy. He highlighted the importance of mutual cooperation for the success of security operations in the region.

“Us being on the same page ensures success in all our endeavors. We are grateful for the continued support of our comrades in arms. Rest assured that we will continue to work hard to sustain peace in our area of operation,” Lt. Gen. Gonzales stated.

As WestMinCom transitions from internal defense operations to territorial defense operations, Lt. Gen. Gonzales emphasized the importance of sustaining peace and maritime security in the tri-borders.

“As we move forward from internal defense operations to territorial defense operations, we would like to ensure that peace and maritime security in the tri-borders are sustained,” Lt. Gen. Gonzales added.
