PNP discovers P2-million ‘shabu’ during road mishap

DAVAO CITY — Police authorities in Davao del Sur discovered P2-million worth of illegal drugs after the car carrying the contraband was figured in a road mishap at around 2:30 in the afternoon, Friday, August 20, along the Davao-Cotabato highway particularly in Barangay Dolo, in the town of Bansalan, Davao del Sur.

Major Peter Glenn Ipong, chief of Bansalan PNP said, the illegal drugs were found inside the sedan car driven certain Jose Palma Morales II, a resident of Bolton Isla, Davao City.

Ipong said the sedan rammed into the Honda CRV driver by Arnel Grumo, a resident of Old Airport Davao City, which was filled with passengers.

Polcie investigation showed that Morales was running towards Davao City while the car driver by Grumo was heading to North Cotabato, but Morales ‘counterflowed’ hitting the car of Grumo.

The police dispatched traffic investigators but the later found eight (8) sachets of shabu with a street value of P2-million scattered inside ‘Morales’ car and drugs paraphernalia.

The passengers of the Honda-CRV sustained minor injuries namely, Gerlie J. Gaduyon, 40; Rexelyn G. Grumo, 12; Jesus Dexter P. Jarliga, 11; Jeshane P. Jarliga 3; Jackelyn L. Jarliga, 33; Jesierey L. Jarliga, 43; all residents of Sasa Davao City. They were immediately sent to Viacrusis Hospital.

Morales was brought to Southern Philippines Medical Center due to the injuries he sustained but later expired.
