DAVAO CITY (March 29) — Maria Ressa, CEO of an independent news website Rappler was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport early this morning, March 29, over her alleged violation of the Anti- Dummy Law.
Two lady police officers approached her while she was entering the airport.
Ressa, in an interview with ABS-CBN said “what can I say, I know the two women from the police aren’t the one doing this, obviously, this is again another abuse of my rights, I am treated like a criminal, when my only crime is to be an independent journalist. So, let’s figure out what’s next? yeah! Alice in the wonderland and, at some point, the world turns right side up!”
On Thursday, Judge Acerey Pacheco of Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 265 issued the warrant.
Ressa was arrested upon her arrival at NAIA from San Francisco.
The court of Thursday issued an arrest warrant in connection with her alleged violation of the Anti-Dummy Law.
She is accused of violating Section 2-A of the Commonwealth Act No. 108 or the Anti-Dummy Law.”
