Sara joins Lakas-CMD

DAVAO CITY — Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has officially joined the national party Lakas-CMD on Thursday afternoon.

She took her oath hours after she tendered her resignation from her regional political party, the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP).

Her entry to LAKAS-CMD, a national party fueled to speculations that she is running for a national post.

Sara took her oath before Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez, the majority floor leader in Congress, who is also a relative of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “BongBong” Marcos.

Sara and Bongbong were paired as principal sponsors in the wedding of former senator Ramon Revilla Jr.’s daughter.

During the same wedding, Sara and Bongbong met another presidential aspirant Ronald dela Rosa.

Duterte-Carpio joined the Lakas-CMD hours after she resigned from her own party and two days after she withdrew her bid for reelection as city mayor.
