DAVAO CITY, Philippines – In a significant operation targeting the controversial Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), six members associated with Apollo Quiboloy were arrested on June 10, 2024, for obstructing justice. The incident took place at Glory Mountain, a property owned by the KOJC in Barangay Tamayong, Calinan District, Davao City. The operation also led to the rescue of two minors.

The police were executing warrants against Apollo Quiboloy, the founder of KOJC, and five of his associates, who are facing severe allegations including child and sexual abuse, as well as violations under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003. The operation was a coordinated effort involving joint forces from the Davao Region, Region 10, and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

Targeted sites included the prayer retreat known as Glory Mountain and a location in Sasa, Davao City, where authorities believed Quiboloy and his associates might be hiding.

Although the primary suspects, including Quiboloy, were not found at these sites, the operation at Glory Mountain led to the arrest of six individuals for their actions that obstructed the police’s efforts.

According to Police Major Catherine Dela Rey, the six detained individuals were interfering with the police’s execution of their duties. “These individuals were obstructing the operation and preventing us from carrying out our lawful duties,” Dela Rey stated. The police also discovered that those arrested were armed with daggers during the confrontation.

Eleanor Cardona, executive secretary of the KOJC however said their members were unarmed.

The two minors rescued during the operation were reportedly being prevented from leaving the compound, further complicating the situation at the scene. Authorities are currently investigating their circumstances and providing necessary assistance.

After the investigation, the six detainees were released while charges were being prepared for regular filing.

“We are looking into multiple charges, including obstruction of justice, against those who interfered with the operation,” Dela Rey confirmed.

The investigation into Quiboloy and his associates continues, with law enforcement agencies vowing to pursue all legal avenues to bring them to justice.

The rescue of the minors adds another layer of urgency to the ongoing efforts to address the serious allegations surrounding Quiboloy and his organization.

This incident underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement in dealing with high-profile individuals and organizations accused of grave offenses.

The community and authorities alike remain vigilant as the case progresses.
