Six BOC deputy commissioners quit posts

MANILA (November 20)–  Six  deputy commissioners of the Bureau of Customs and 14 other employees have resigned from their posts to provide the new Customs Commissioner Rey Guerrero with a free hand in appointing people under his command.

“This is a sign of support and solidarity with the new Customs chief to let him choose the people who will carry out the directives of the President,” BOC spokesperson Erastus Sandino Austria said.

Austria said that officials with the rank of Directors II and II as well as Collector VI have submitted their resignation to Commissioner Guerrero.

Guerrero has recommended two of his classmates from the Philippine Military Academy Class 1984 to become his deputies.  However, they remain on an OIC position, pending their formal appointment from the President.

Retired Lt. Gen. Donato San Juan is acting deputy commissioner for Internal Administration Group (IAG), replacing Gladys Rosales. Retired Brig. Gen. Raniel Ramiro serves as acting deputy commissioner for Intelligence Group vice Ricardo Quinto.- ecz/NewsLine
