DAVAO CITY — The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) called out many local government units for issuing their own guidelines on coronavirus disease (COVID-19) without the clearance of said agency.

In a press briefing, Friday morning, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said “Many LGU’s implemented their own guidelines without the clearance from us or from the inter-agency task force which make the situation worse.”

“The LGU does not have the authority to cancel or suspend flights because that is not within their jurisdiction,” he emphasized.

Año said the local guidelines has resulted to suffering of people which already suffered enough due to COVID.

“The truck and people who need to pass boundaries should be allowed,” he stressed.

Barring domestic flights is not within the power of the LGU’s Año repeatedly stressed.
