DAVAO CITY (October 1) — A Filipina wife was allegedly murdered by her actor-husband inside her residence in Kista, Stockholm, Sweden at 11:30 in the evening on September 23.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) identified the Filipina as Mailyn Conde Sinambong, a mother of two, and whose family is from Cebu City.
The DFA through Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano on Sunday condoled with the family of Sinambong and vowed to give justice over her death.
Reverend Fr. Herbert F. Fadriquela Jr., Chairperson of Migrante Europe, in a statement, strongly condemned the brutal killing of Sinambong.
Migrante Europe in a statement said, “According to initial reports, the suspect is Mailyn’s husband, Steve Aron Bakre Aalam, a Swedish national, who confessed to the crime and is now in the custody of Swedish authorities on probable grounds suspected of murder.”
The statement revealed that Aalam committed violence against Sinambong and their sons while they were still residing in Cebu City. In 2010, they left for Sweden.
Just days after their arrival in Sweden, reports reaching the family revealed that Sinambong was reportedly beaten by her husband.
But Maria Conde Sinambong, the mother, claimed her daughter said very little regarding her real situation.
A call for Investigation and justice
Migrante Europe is seeking justice as it condemns the brutal murder.
The family demands an immediate investigation surrounding the death of Sinambong.
They also call on the government of President Rodrigo Duterte to provide assistance in immediately repatriating Mailyn’s remains.
The DFA assurance
In a statement, the DFA said it has already assured Sinambong’s family that the body would be immediately flown into the Philippines, and that the government will be working to ensure that justice is served.
“Secretary Cayetano has given assurances that all the necessary assistance shall be extended to Mailyn’s family to not only immediately reunite her with her loved ones in the Philippines but also to ensure that justice would be served,” the DFA statement said.
“The Philippine Embassy in Norway is in contact with Swedish authorities in connection with the 23 September murder of Mailyn,” it said.
The DFA also stressed that the Philippine Embassy is also in touch with Sinambong’s aunt in Norway and her mother in the municipality of Medellin, Cebu.-Editha Z. Caduaya/NewsLine.ph
