TALACOGON, Agusan del Sur — Local government officials and security agencies have finalized a comprehensive operational plan to ensure the orderly, safe, and respectful conduct of the wake, funeral, and burial of student-athlete Rene Clert Baterbonia on June 24.

A coordination meeting was held on June 21 and was led by Mayor Pauline Marie R. Masendo and Vice Mayor Elvin L. Maligsa. The meeting brought together representatives from key government agencies to discuss security, traffic management, emergency response, and crowd control measures in anticipation of a large turnout of mourners, visitors, and dignitaries.

Among those present were Municipal Administrator Gina B. Gatab; officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP); representatives from the Municipal Planning and Development Office, Municipal Information Office, Municipal Health Office, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Municipal Engineering Office, and the Sangguniang Bayan; as well as Rene Clert’s mother, Rovelyn Baterbonia.

Officials reviewed the step-by-step flow of activities from the funeral Mass to the final burial rites, emphasizing the need for coordinated action as the community continues to mourn the loss of the young athlete.

To manage the expected influx of pedestrians and vehicles, the provincial government will augment local resources by deploying additional Emergency Response Teams, crowd-control personnel, structural railings, and heavy-duty barriers. These will complement the efforts of LGU Talacogon, the MDRRMO, PNP, and BFP in implementing traffic rerouting, designated parking areas, and controlled crowd movement.

Emergency medical teams from the Municipal Health Office and the Philippine Red Cross–Agusan Chapter will also be stationed at key locations throughout the funeral activities.

Mayor Masendo said the coordinated effort aims to provide a secure and dignified environment for the bereaved family, guests, and community members paying their final respects.

The extensive preparations underscore the community’s collective commitment to honoring Rene Clert Baterbonia’s life and legacy while ensuring public safety throughout the funeral proceedings.
