Tempura Vendor Arrested in Drug Buy-Bust Operation

Lamitan City, Basilan – A tempura vendor was apprehended by personnel from the Lamitan City Police Station after being caught with a sachet believed to contain illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Nawasa, Barangay Maganda, Lamitan City, Basilan yesterday afternoon, July 10.

The suspect, identified as Basher Bonifacio Macrohon, also known as “Karding,” a 28-year-old married resident of Barangay Matibay in Lamitan City, was apprehended by the Lamitan City drug enforcement unit acting as a poseur buyer.

Police Lt. Col. Arlan Delumpines, Chief of the Lamitan City Police Office, revealed that Macrohon was included in the watchlist and was under probation.

The suspect was informed of his rights upon arrest before a thorough search was conducted. The search yielded two medium-sized transparent sachets containing white granules believed to be shabu, with an estimated street value of PHP 13,600. Other items seized from the suspect included a cellphone used in the transaction, a black coin purse, a lighter, and the marked PHP 500 bill used as buy-bust money.

The drug suspect is currently detained at the Lamitan City Police Station while the necessary documents are being prepared for the filing of charges for violation of Section 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, before the court.
