Councilor Ardot Parojinog arrested in TaiwanPosted on
OZAMIZ CITY (May 24) –— Fugitive Ozamiz City Councilor Ricardo “Ardot” Parojinog, was arrested Wednesday in Pingtung Country, Taiwan.
Parojinog went into hiding during the past ten months, officials of the International Police (InterPol) from Taiwan informed the Philippine National Police yesterday of his arrest.
Ardot is the younger brother of Ozamiz Mayor Reynaldo “Aldo” Parojinog, was killed in a police raid in July last year.
Ardot’s niece, Ozamiz Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog, and her brother, Reynaldo Parojinog, Jr., are facing charges of illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
The Parojinog siblings are listed among the narcopoliticians, as revealed by no less the President Rodrigo Duterte.
Sources here said Ardot’s cohorts tipped off authorities on his whereabouts, which resulted to his arrest. Reports said Ardot was about to enter the mainland Taiwan without documents, which led to his arrest.
A team from the Philippine National Police will fetch him from Taiwan.
Councilor Parojinog would have to face charges in Taiwan before he will be deported to the Philippines, says PNP spokesperson Chief Supt. John Bulalacao.
Bulalacao said once Parojinog gets back to the country, he would be facing several cases of illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
The police, according to Bulalacao, is investigating the report that Parojinog was aided by Taiwanese drug lords to flee the country.-Neptalie Batolenio/Newsline.ph
