Two suspected communist insurgents killed in Sultan Kudarat

DAVAO CITY –— Two suspected members of the communist terrorist group were killed in an encounter with soldiers from the 57th Infantry (Masikap) Battalion in Brgy. Opposite, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat Thursday at around 5:45 in the morning, May 16.

Lt. Col. Guillermo Mabute Jr., who was the leader of 57IB troops said they conducted an operation after receiving reports from civilians that a group of individuals were extorting money from the community.

It was then that the 57IB partnered with several other units from the 37IB, 7IB, and other military operatives to launch decisive military operations against ten communist terrorists that resulted in the neutralization of two of their colleagues in Sitio Laman of the said area.

Brigadier General Michael A. Santos PA, the Commander of the 603rd (Persuader) Brigade said that soldiers encountered the members of the executive committee of the Sub-Regional Command (SRC) – Daguma of Far South Mindanao Region (FSMR).

The soldiers’ victory in crushing the enemies of the government proved that the security landscape in the area is changing and we are able to sustain the momentum, said Brig. Gen. Santos.

The soldiers seized assorted war armaments equipment of the communist terrorists which is a 5.56mm M16 rifle, a Cal .45 pistol, a Grenade, magazines, ammunition, subversive documents and personal belongings.
