Village chief ambushed, killed

DAVAO CITY (June 7) –– Armed men ambushed and killed the newly elected village chief of Barangay Talandang Tugbok, Davao City around 2 p.m. Thursday, June 7 along Barangay Magtuod Road, Davao City.

Reynaldo Dumagan, 52  was on board the barangay’s service vehicle on the way to the Davao International Airport when a red pick up tried to overtake their vehicle and shot the village chief.

His driver, Fernando Suganod also died in the ambush incident.

Dumagan was with his daughter, son-in-law and other relatives on board the village service vehicle when the incident happened.

Reports said Dumagan was to proceed to Cebu to pick up the remains of his nephew who was killed in a hold-up incident.

Police are conducting further investigation at the crime scene.

The ambush of Dumagan happened around the same time Dennis Denora, publisher of Trends and Times was also ambushed and killed in Panabo City, Davao del Norte.  Reyaa Nunez/NawsLine.ph
