DAVAO CITY — In the hinterlands like Talaingod, Davao del Norte where some people are more likely to prioritize tilling the fields for food and money rather than collecting and submitting self-learning modules, the participation rate of parents during distribution and retrieval of these modules is dismal.

This pressing concern warrants an effective intervention and the teachers at a certain school just got it in the bag – or should we say, “in the box”?

Tibucag Integrated School is one of the schools experiencing this difficulty with the challenges of parents failing to participate in the distribution and retrieval of modules.

Twelve percent of the learners in the school are residents of Barangay Dagohoy which is about 6 kilometers away from the school. Consequently, the parents of these learners have high possibility in failing to participate in the distribution and retrieval of printed modules due to distance and working schedules.

The prevailing concern of the school gives birth to Project Module Preparation and Allocation (Module PandA) proposed by teachers Michael Joe A. Sanchez and Ellaine V. Calizo.

This program mimics a certain food delivery service with their motorcycles accessorized with pink top boxes containing sealed modules as an intervention in thedelivery of self-learning modules with efficacy and efficiency to the learners.

“The project aims to serve as the means to reinforce learning and establish module-delivery platform, and to value the distance learning modality in delivering education to the learners in this pandemic,” Edgar L. Manaran, the school head of Tibucag IS, explained. In addition, teachers and volunteer parents are identified as responsible persons for the recording of distribution and retrieval of the modules and other activity sheets.

The goal of Project Module PandA is to make every learner in the community enthusiastic to participate in the learning process during this crisis of pandemic and to innovate the delivery of modules by teachers and volunteers.-Niel Diaz (DepED)
