CARMEN, NORTH COTABATO – Some 227 corn farmers in this municipality received indemnity checks with a combined amount of P708,515 from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) as payment for their insurance claims on their damaged crops.  This was announced Monday by DAR-North Cotabato.

Cheryll Camariñas, Carmen’s municipal agrarian reform program officer, said “The agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) filed for claims under PCIC’s Free Insurance Coverage and were listed in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture,” said Cheryll Camariñas, Carmen’s municipal agrarian reform program officer.

Rosemary Calawigan, a corn farmer from Barangay Kimadzil, who received P9,000 said “the amount we received will allow us to buy inputs and restart another cropping after we failed in the previous cropping season.”

PCIC personnel Jumnar Luib and Marjorie Lyn Arcala facilitated the releasing of checks.

The activity was witnessed by MARPO Mary Joy Clarito among other DARMO officials.

The Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) were from Barangays Kimadzil, Malapag, Palanggalan, Aroman, Bentangan, Kibenes, Ranzo, Tunganon, Tupig, Liliongan, Macabenban, and Poblacion.
