2nd Bay Deep Freediving Festival Held in Mati

DAVAO ORIENTAL – The 2nd Bay Deep Freediving Festival took place in Pujada Bay, Mati City, Davao Oriental yesterday, June 18. Various freediving organizations from across Mindanao participated in the event.

Freediving groups such as Glide Freediving and Spearfishing from Samal Island, Northmind Freediving from Cagayan de Oro, OBX from Tagum and Davao, Sarbay Freedivers from General Santos and Sarangani, Dive Ta Bai and Blue Home Freediving from Davao, and Sawom from Davao Oriental were all in attendance.

The freediving event was part of the 20th Pujada Bay Festival celebration. Over 70 participants joined the activities, exploring Pujada Bay, Waniban Island, and “The Walls” at Blue Bless Resort.

The festival aimed to promote Mati City as a premier freediving destination in Mindanao, contributing to the development of the city’s tourism sector.

As part of the festival, a freediving competition is being prepared and presented by Sawom Davao Oriental, in collaboration with the local government and the organizers of the Bay Deep Mati event.

According to the City Tourism Office, there are plans to further develop freediving activities in Mati City, including scuba diving.

The participants expressed their gratitude to the local government, particularly the City Tourism Office, for providing them with a memorable freediving experience in Pujada Bay.

Various freediving organizations in Mindanao are already looking forward to upcoming freediving festivals.

Pujada Bay is recognized as one of the most beautiful bays in the world.
