ARMM Heart, inter-gency provide relief distribution to displaced Jolo residents

Cotabato City (June 27)- The  Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Humanitarian Emergency Action and Response Team (ARMM-HEART) has continued providing assistance to displaced Jolo residents who were hit by an almost 10-hour fire on Tuesday, this week.

Relief goods were distributed to the displaced residents by ARMM Regional Gov. Mujiv Hataman , ARMM Humanitarian Emergency Action and Response Team (ARMM-HEART) and DSWD-ARMM, in coordination with DPWH-ARMM, AFP, and DILG-ARMM.  An initial financial assistance of P1,000 was provided to affected households, along with 25 kilos of rice and other food supplies.

Initial government assessment shows that the fire has caused P35 million in damage and displaced around 5,000 families and an estimated 25,000 individuals.    

The fire broke out shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday in one of the houses in Barangay Bus-bus and spread towards Barangays Walled City and Lambayong.

The distribution of food and non food items is still on-going.  Included in the items being distributed are hygiene kits, sleeping mats, prayer mats, pails, sardines, basin, drinking plastic cups, plates, children’s clothes, malong, cooking equipment and rice.   (NewsLine with report from ARMM HEART)
