DAVAO CITY (June 15) — The Kuwaiti government has assured the Philippine government of the speedy arrest of the police officer who raped and assaulted an Overseas Filipino Worker.
Philippine Embassy officials in Kuwait said they are closely coordinating with local officials there for the arrest of Fayed Naser Hamad Alajmy, 22.
Earlier, Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Mohd Noordin Lomondot said Alajmy assisted the Filipina worker to register via finger-scanning at the airport upon her arrival in Kuwait on June 4, but Alajmy allegedly kidnapped and assaulted the victim.
In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs reported that Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Lou Y. Arriola met with Kuwaiti Ambassador to the Philippines Musaed Saleh Ahmad Althwaikh, yesterday June 14, to emphasize the Philippine government’s utmost concern on the case of the raped Filipina household service worker in Kuwait.
Ambassador Althwaikh informed Arriola that an all-points bulletin has been issued to police and immigration posts in Kuwait and other Gulf Cooperation Council member states.
The suspect has been charged with rape under Article 186 of Kuwait Penal Law No. 16/1960.
The Kuwaiti law states that, “Anyone having sexual intercourse with a woman without her consent, through the use of force, threats or deception, shall be liable to the death penalty or life imprisonment. If the offender is an ascendant of the victim or one of the persons entrusted with her upbringing or welfare or vested with authority over her, or a servant or a servant of any of the above-mentioned persons, he shall be liable to the death penalty.”
Ambassador Althwaikh assured Arriola that the Kuwaiti government is exerting all efforts for the speedy arrest of the suspect.
