Hundreds stranded but Basilan-Zamboanga sea trip resumes

ISABELA, BASILAN — Passengers continue to flock Isabela City Port this morning September 14, as the Philippine Coast Guard lifted the suspension of trips yesterday due to tropical depression Marilyn.

On Thursday, hundreds of passengers coming in and going out of Basilan province were stranded as the Philippine Coast Guarded ordered the suspension of sea trips due to huge waves and intermittent weather condition.

The provincial government also ordered the class suspension yesterday in all levels both in private and public schools as ‘Marilyn’ affected the Zamboanga Peninsula which resulted to several damages.

Early thing morning, the stranded passengers flock to Isabela port to catch up for their schedules.

The Basilan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC ) is still doing the ground assessment to determine the exact number of families affected and the damages which the tropical depression caused.-Richad Falcatan
