Bangsamoro government opens hospital in Sulu

DAVAO CITY —The Bangsamoro government inaugurated on April 29, the Maimbung District Hospital in Sulu which is aimed at serving the residents from the far-flung villages.

The newsly opened district hospital is funded under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the central office.

Health Minister Dr. Rizaldy Piang led the inauguration ceremony with the local government officials. 

Maimbung is a 5th class coastal municipality in the province of Sulu, which has a population of 59,597 people. It was the seat of the Sultanate of Sulu.

In her message, Piang said that the Ministry of Health is committed to improve the health services in the seven (7) hospitals of the Bangsamoro region.

“This is the first time that MOH-BARMM can open a district hospital, so we are also glad that the time we spent to come here was productive,” he said, in a statement released by the Bangsamoro Information Office.

Mayor Shihla Tan-Hayudini thanked the Bangsamoro government for realizingtheir long-dreamed hospital saying it will greatly help the resiednts of the town especially those in the remote areas.

For the operation of the hospital, the government hired 95 personnel to provide quality healthcare services.

During the visit, MOH officials also launched the Measles-Rubella and Oral Polio Virus (MR-OPV SIA) campaign, and a 25-bed capacity Temporary Treatment Monitoring Facility (TTMF) worth Php10,000,000.00 funded under Bayanihan Act II was officially opened.-with report from BIO
