COTABATO CITY (November 3) – Government, business, and labor representatives in the Bangsamoro region have joined hands to improve workers’ welfare, strengthen workplace safety, and protect children from exploitation.

The commitment was sealed during the 2025 Bangsamoro Labor Summit and Tripartite Industrial Peace Council Convention, led by Labor Minister Muslimin Sema and attended by employers, workers, and humanitarian groups from across BARMM, including Basilan and Tawi-Tawi.

Sema said the agreements aim to foster cooperation between employers and workers and “build a safer, fairer labor environment for Bangsamoro residents.”

The International Labour Organization (ILO) also reaffirmed support for BARMM’s programs, citing joint efforts with the Ministry of Labor and Employment that have rescued and re-enrolled 713 child laborers in schools across the region in the past three years.
