Bong Go on Senate bid : Nothing is final

March 16, 2018 by Editha Z. Caduaya

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Senate bid is not yet final, says Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go.

Go, in interview with Davao reporters Friday, March 16, said “As it is now, nothing is final until October, I am here to serve the President and that is my priority.”

Though Go revealed, “Kahilakon ko tong nag ingon si Mayor na modagan ko ( I almost cried when the Mayor (referring to the President) asked me  to run), because it was a selfless President talking to me.”

Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio earlier expressed full support to Go’s candidacy,  should he finally decide to run as Senator in the 2019 elections.

Supporters of the President have  thrown support to Go. Many of them claim they love and support Go, for being kind,   soft spoken, polite and for listening to them.

Being the aide of Duterte,  is also known as the man next to the President and the only way to the President..

Many perceived Go as a good material for senator given his experience in handling local and national affairs,  his  grasps, skills  and his knowledge on the dynamics of a government office.

His supporters even launched a rally to prod him to run but until now, he remains uncertain saying “I will remain the janitor of the President, I cannot leave, I will serve him in any means necessary.”

Go told reporters, he is not certain of the senate bid but stressed “I will decide in October.”

Based  on the rules of the  Commission on Elections, all candidates seeking local and national post has to file their .certificate of candidacy in October  for the 2019 elections.

He said he cannot leave the President “I am here to serve him up to my last breath, I am here to support him.”

Running for a senate seat, according to Go,  is not among the things he is attending nowadays,  but his work as the Duterte’s aide.

Though, he thanked the people for the warm support “I am happy of their support,  but , I have yet to decide.”

Duterte has earlier manifested he wants Go to run for Senator.

When asked, Should he run for Senator, who will take care of the President? Go said “I promised to serve the President, I will serve him in whatever capacity but I don;t know what will come in October, we just have to wait,” he added.-ezc/Newsline.ph
