Cop arrests colleague for trying to avoid checkpoint, found ‘shabu’ instead

April 12, 2019 by NewsLine Philippines

ILIGAN CITY (April 12) — Police arrested Wednesday afternoon a colleague who tried to avoid PNP-Comelec checkpoint Wednesday afternoon in Barangay Pagalongan, Marantao, Lanao del Sur, and later found sachet of illegal drugs in his possession.

Patrolman Alrajhi Londo Hadji Yasser, 34, was arrested when the blue Toyota Revo, bearing plate number XAF 567, he was driving attempted to elude the checkpoint.

Marantao police report states “When the operating personnel flagged down the vehicle and one of the troops approached the driver, the latter attempted to pull his weapon but was barred by operating team that prompted them to put said driver under arrest.”

Police Major Nelson Madiwo, chief of Marantao Municipal Police Station, said When the operatives searched inside the vehicle, they found seven sachets of suspected ‘shabu’, disposable lighters, a strip of aluminum foil, an UZI pistol with inserted magazine with ten rounds of live ammumitions.

They also arrested Yasser’s companion identified as Sowaib Baraocor Boransing, 29, single, jobless and a resident of Barangay Campong Inudaran, Marantao town.

Several identification cards such as the PNP ID, AFPSLAI ID, PAG-IBIG ID and a postal ID, owned by Yasser, an upper GOA “C” uniform with name plate MAMLE with panta, athletic uniform, RIG belt and ball cap were also recovered from the vehicle.

Arrested suspects are now detained at Marantao MPS detention cell for filing of appropriate cases against them.

Madiwo said Yasser has been under surveillance for almost a year now because of his involvement in illegal drugs.

Madiwo said in a phone interview.

Yasser is assigned at Pantao Ragat Municipal Police Station in Pantao Ragat, Lanao del Norte and a resident of Barangay Bubong Madanding of Marantao town.

He was dismissed from the service in 2017 for ‘serious neglect of duty’, went on absent without official leave (AWOL) but was reinstated after in 2018.
