Cotabato gov’t distributes over 240 bags of genetically modified hybrid corn seeds worth P1.08 Million to Banisilan farmers

BANISILAN, COTABATO – On Friday, October 13, the Cotabato Provincial Government distributed a total of 240 bags of genetically modified (GM) hybrid corn seeds, valued at ₱1,080,000, to farmers in Banisilan, Cotabato.

These GM corn seeds are known for their resistance to pests and adaptability to challenging weather conditions, offering potential for higher yields and income for farmers. The distribution also included fertilizers, with the aim of promoting crop growth and ensuring a successful harvest for the local farming community.

This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing commitment to support and strengthen the agricultural sector, which has been a top priority under the leadership of Governor Emmylou Lala Taliño-Mendoza.

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist spearheaded the distribution event, which aimed to benefit farmers as beneficiaries of this program.
