Davao isolation facility worker electrocuted, another wounded

DAVAO CITY — A utility worker in one of city’s Covid-19 isolation facility was killed while another one was wounded after they accidentally hit a live wire while fixing a tent after the heavy downpour on Tuesday March 16, at around 2:49 in the afternoon.

Police identified the victim as Edgardo Lacabo, 31, a resident of Purok 13, Barangay Tibungco, was killed while his workmate identified as Akmad Catuyo, 39, a resident of Purok 4, barangay Sirawan, this city sustained blisters and was hospitalized.

The Sasa Police record stated that Lacabo and Catuyo were fixing the destroyed canopy inside the tent city at the Davao International Airport when they were electrocuted,

Further police investigation revealed that unknown to the victims, the electrical wirings leading to the tent were damaged due to the strong winds.

The victims were trying to re-install the post of the canopy when they hit the wire, and the impact on Catuyo had him thrown away while Lacabo sustained severe injuries which caused his untimely death.-Cheche Diabordo
