Davao Light engineers recognized as ASEAN engineers

DAVAO CITY — Three engineers from Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) have been conferred the title of ASEAN Engineer, solidifying their place in the prestigious ASEAN Engineering Register (AER). This recognition highlights their expertise, experience, and contributions to the field of electrical engineering.

Engrs. Virmel Dabon, Jonel Padillo, and Richard Regidor achieved this honor by meeting the rigorous qualifications and standards set by the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations (AFEO), as facilitated by the Philippine Technological Council (PTC). The title acknowledges them as globally competent professionals in their field.

The AER is an official directory of distinguished engineers across the ASEAN region. Its objectives include safeguarding engineers’ professional interests, fostering high standards, and promoting cultural and professional collaboration among members.

“Becoming an ASEAN Engineer connects professionals to a broader network across the ASEAN region,” said Engr. Virmel Dabon. “This opens opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation in electrical engineering, which I can bring back to Davao Light.”

The three honorees are the second group of Davao Light engineers to earn this distinction, bringing the company’s total number of ASEAN Engineers to eight. Their achievements underscore Davao Light’s commitment to fostering professional growth and maintaining high engineering standards.

“We are proud of our ASEAN Engineers. Their achievement reflects their excellence and reinforces our commitment to upholding the highest engineering practice standards,” said Davao Light Head Engr. Enriczar Tia.

Engr. Virmel Dabon: Operation and Maintenance of Transmission and Distribution Systems.

Engr. Jonel Padillo: Utility Regulatory Compliance.

Engr. Richard Regidor: Electrical Network Protection.
