MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has no plans of establishing a revolutionary government during his term.
Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella is a statement pointed out that the President is just musing out loud over an alternative approach to resolving hindrances to progress when he made the remarks.
Abella’s statement stressed “The President’s remarks on a ‘revolutionary government’ is an approach to resolving the country’s endemic and structural problems hindering genuine progress. However, PRRD made it clear that he will not establish a revolutionary government under his administration.”
The statement was issued after Duterte in a mass oath-taking Tuesday said the Philippines needs a revolutionary government instead of martial law to really stop corruption.
“I was not joking but I am not into it. For the Philippines to really go up, sabi ko, ang kailangan ng mga tao is not martial law,” he said.
“Go for ginawa ni Cory (Aquino), revolutionary government. Na you declare all positions of the government vacant and change all. Ang mali lang kasi ni Ma’am Aquino was ibinigay niya uli sa mga politiko,” the President said.
“Pero huwag kayong magtingin sa akin, hindi ako pwede diyan (But don’t look at me, I don’t like it),” Duterte said./PNA
