Former CDO Mayor Vicente Emano dies

DAVAO CITY (May 8) — Former Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente ‘Dongkoy’ Emano passed away Tuesday morning.

Emano, 76, who was running for vice mayor in the May 13 mid-term elections, died at past 12am Tuesday at the Capitol University Medical Center in Cagayan.

Emano started his political career in 1980 as mayor of Tagoloan town in Misamis Oriental. He was later appointed as officer-in-charge of Misamis Oriental and then ran and won as governor in 1988, and served until 1998.

Emano, who pioneered the Padayon Pilipino political party.

Misamis Oriental Governor Yvgeny Emano in a statement said remains of the former mayor were cremated at the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes in Cagayan de Oro.

The ashes ashes would be brought to their residence in Barangay Gusa.

He said burial was tentatively set on Saturday, May 11.-NewsLine.ph
