Henry Rhoel Aguda Appointed as New DICT Secretary

DAVAO CITY —The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has officially welcomed Henry Rhoel Aguda as its new secretary, signaling a renewed push for digitalization, enhanced connectivity, and stronger cybersecurity across the country.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed Henry Rhoel Aguda as the new secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

A veteran in banking and digital transformation, Aguda previously served as UnionBank’s Chief Technology and Operations Officer and led UnionDigital Bank as President and CEO, driving technological advancements in the financial sector.

He was also the Digital Infrastructure Sector Lead of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC), where he played a key role in expanding digital infrastructure and generating over a million digital jobs.

DICT officials have fully supported Aguda’s leadership in fulfilling President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s vision of a secure, inclusive, and progressive digital Philippines.

“We reaffirm that digitalization, connectivity, digital inclusion, and cybersecurity will remain central to our national priorities,” said DICT spokesperson and Assistant Secretary for Legal Affairs Renato A. Paraiso.

With Aguda at the helm, DICT aims to accelerate efforts toward a “Bayang Digital ang Bagong Pilipinas”, ensuring the country keeps pace with global technological advancements.

The agency is calling on partners, stakeholders, and the public to support this transition as it intensifies its efforts to bridge the digital divide and strengthen the nation’s cyber resilience.
