DAVAO CITY – Media practitioners should be considered part of the priority groups for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination, Senator Christopher Lawrence Go said Thursday.
In an interview on the sidelines of the distribution of assistance to fisherfolk in the Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS), Go underscored media’s role in informing the public about the effects of the pandemic.
“They are like our front-liners. It is one of the important sectors in the community. They contributed a lot, especially about information dissemination regarding the importance of the vaccine and everything that happened during the pandemic,” he said.
Go noted that the nature of their work keeps journalists exposed to the virus.
“They must be at the top priority, just like our uniformed men,” he said.
Meanwhile, Go said he and President Rodrigo Duterte are willing to be vaccinated in public to allay fears over the vaccine’s safety and efficacy.
“We are just waiting for the arrival of the safe and effective vaccine and we are also waiting for the clearance of his doctor’s as to what vaccine will fit the President’s age and health,” he added.-PNA
