Military hospital admits patients displaced by 5.9 quake

Montevista, Davao de Oro – Some cracks and damages were seen in the Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital (DOPH) in this town when the province was hit by a 5.9 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday afternoon, March 7.
 
Eleven patients in the DOPC were transferred to the Camp General Manuel T. Yan Senior Station Hospital (CGMTYSSH) in Barangay Tuboran, Mawab town in the province.
 
Three military ambulances transported three adults and eight pediatric patients to the army hospital.
 
10th ID Commander MGen. Jose Eriel Niembra personally checked the status of the patients on March 8. He assured the patients that proper medical attention would be given to them while admitted in the hospital.
 
Also present during the transfer of patients were 1001st Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Felix Ronnie Babac and Davao De Oro 2nd District Congressman Ruwel Peter Gonzaga.
 
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 11 released data on Thursday that showed a total of 2,942 families were affected by the series of earthquakes in the province.
 
The OCD record showed that there was P42.3 million worth of damage to infrastructure “to include 80 schools in the entire region, 21 roads and bridges, and 45 government and private facilities.”
 
According to OCD, 352 houses were destroyed and 394 others were partly by the earthquake.
 
Sixty-one people were injured or became ill. Many of them suffered fainting and loss of consciousness.
 
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) already provided more than P5 million worth of food and nonfood items to the earthquake victims.
 
There were 1,611 displaced families. All of them are now housed in 20 designated evacuation centers across the province.
