DIGOS CITY  (November 12) — The city government has launched a comprehensive action plan to address the recent rise in robbery and snatching incidents, assuring residents of swift and decisive measures to keep communities safe.

Mayor Josef Cagas said the program underscores the local government’s commitment to protect residents and maintain public order.

“We are taking concrete steps to make our streets safer and to reassure our citizens that their government is acting swiftly and decisively,” Cagas said.

He shared on Facebook that he personally joined night and early-morning patrols on November 10 with police teams conducting high-visibility rounds.

While only about 20 households—roughly 20 individuals out of 180,000 registered voters—were directly affected by recent incidents, Cagas said the city was moving proactively to prevent further crimes.

Police, led by PLtCol Peter Glenn Ipong, will intensify patrols in high-risk areas, including Barangays Tres de Mayo, Aplaya, San Miguel, Zones 1–3, and Matti, as well as Rizal Avenue, the Digos Public Market, and the Public Terminal.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and take safety precautions such as avoiding dark areas and keeping valuables out of sight.

The city government also warned criminals that “Digos City will never be a haven for lawbreakers,” vowing intensified patrols, checkpoints, and surveillance.

Cagas said the initiative reaffirms the city’s resolve to protect residents and visitors and ensure a safe environment for all.
