DAVAO CITY – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. attended the unveiling the Davao City Coastal Bypass Road Project (Segment A) in Davao City, and held an inaugural drive through, on Saturday, July 1.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), helped fund the project as part of the Infrastructure Modernization for Davao City (IM4 Davao) program, aimed at bolstering the city’s urban infrastructure.

The project stretched from Jct. Davao-Cotabato, traversing the coastal areas of Bago Aplaya, Talomo, Matina Aplaya (Times Beach), Roxas Avenue Section, Santa Ana Wharf, and up to R. Castillo.

It seeks to improve Davao City’s road network to help alleviate traffic, in the city center.

It will also be an alternative route to the Davao–Cotabato Road and ABS-CBN Diversion Road.

It is expected that the travel time from the Toril Area to the City proper will be reduced from 1 hour and 45 minutes to just 30 minutes, while moving development away from the city center.

The incorporation of coastal shore protection and breakwater structures within the project will safeguard the city against sea wave actions, water surges, and soil erosion.
